Fears Over Doctor Numbers In Terang

The Terang Clinic is is set to lose three of its four doctors next year according to ABC news reports. Terang Progress Association spokesperson Pat Vaugn told ABC radio they want proactive measures taken to ensure there are doctors in the small town in western Victoria.Four doctors currently work at the Terang Clinic, but over the next 12 months three doctors will be leaving.Mr Vaughn told the ABC:

“We are not in dire straits as some towns in the country are,” he said.

“We look like having two clinics and one with one-and-a-half so it’s not like we don’t have doctors but one goes sick, ones goes on holidays, we are a population of 2,000 and we might not have a doctor.”

Only the Liberal Party has a policy which will help problems like Terang’s. We recognise that there needs to be more locum support and more help recruiting doctors for country Victoria.

Labor has done nothing about the rural doctor crisis in their seven years in office.
